WHAT WE DO
tae kwon do
noun
a Korean martial art translating to 'the way of the hand and foot'
Tae Kwon Do is predominantly a kicking and punching art,
originating from South Korea, and this forms the main focus of our training.
Our classes consist of multiple elements including:
Self Defence | Traditional Practices | Competition Sparring | Patterns
Fitness | Pad Work | Discipline | Flexibility
But most importantly: Fun!

Traditional Practices
Traditional practices in Tae Kwon do preserve its discipline, respect, and philosophical roots, shaping both skill and character.

Patterns
Patterns are a sequence of movements set against an imaginary opponent and are important in Tae Kwon do because they develop precision, control, and overall technique. They help improve balance, coordination, and muscle memory while reinforcing fundamental movements.

Pad Work
Pad work is essential to help develop speed, power, accuracy, and timing.
Pad work simulates dynamic combat scenarios, making it a key tool for both beginners and advanced students. And a great way to relieve stress too!

Competitive Sparring
Our students regularly compete in regional and national competitions, both in sparring and patterns.
Certified students also also referee, officiate and provide welfare and medical help during events.

Self Defence
Applying traditional movements into realistic self-defence scenarios is paramount in keeping techniques grounded. We often apply these movements and techniques into real life situations, to both interpret and improve understanding.

Fitness
Our classes always consist of a warm up to reduce the chance of injury, but in addition we often add in fitness specific parts of the classes to constantly ensure students are improving their stamina, endurance and mental fortitude.

Flexibility
A core element of everything we do, all students naturally improve their flexibility through training.
This is important for aiding proper techniques, preventing injury, and consistently improving reach and mobility.

Breaking
Board breaking is an element of Tae Kwon Do for more experienced students, allowing them to put together timing, precision, power and technique to the test.
Students also have the opportunity to compete in breaking at competitions.

Discipline
Our classes are built on a foundation of deep respect for our instructors, the martial art we do, and for one another.
Tae Kwon Do also serves as a strong, structured environment for students to learn and grow, from any age.

FUN!
We don't do this. It's torture. Please help.
